Looking back on learning.....
Phonics:
- Long O sound.
- We now know that o-e, ow, oa, and oe say the O sound.
- We use oa in the beginning or middle of words - boat, oat.
-We use ow in the end, or in the middle when the word ends in a L or N - snow, blown
-Use oe in the end (not used as much) - toe, foe, doe
Literacy:
-Students continued working on paragraph writing.
-They composed paragraphs about themselves to include : topic sentence, 3-4 facts with elaboration, and a closing sentence.
-Students learned about seahorses while taking jot notes.
-Then students individually chose facts from their jot notes to create a paragraph to share their knowledge of seahorses.
Science:
-We finished part of our energy unit. Students completed the sound portion.
-Important concepts we will review and student need to know - sound waves travel in a straight path, sound in made through vibrations, sound can reflect, bounce and be absorbed, the difference between volume, pitch and duration, and how our brains receive sound information.
- We will investigate light energy starting next week.
Math:
-We continue to build on our addition and subtraction facts.
-Students learned how to decompose whole numbers and relate making ten to making 100.
-Students practiced the "stacking method".
