Looking back at learning:
Phonics:
- We learned the long A sound.
- AY says "a" at the end of words (say, play).
-AI says "a" in the beginning and in the middle of words (brain, aim).
Writing:
- We finished up our informational writing on orca whales.
- Student used their jot notes to write 4 paragraphs sharing their new knowledge.
- They edited their work using an editing checklist to ensure capitals, periods, punctuation and spaces were accurate.
Math:
- We continued with our statistics unit this week.
- Students created and interpreted pictographs, dot plot graphs, and bar graphs to display and answer questions based on collected data.
- Students read "This Is How I Know" by Brittany Luby and explored how Indigenous people share information through oral stories and use the land for learning instead of traditional charts/graphs.
- Students learned how the "make ten" as a strategy to help them work through addition equations.
Science:
- We focused our learning on sound energy.
-What is an artificial sound vs a natural sound.
- How to sound waves transfer?
- Sound reflects and absorbs (What materials reflect sound and what materials absorb materials?)
