March 16th - 25th

Thank you so much for taking the time to attend parent-teacher conferences. It was wonderful to connect with you and have meaningful conversations about your child’s learning, growth, and next steps. Your support and involvement play such an important role in your child’s success, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to work together as partners in their learning journey.

Spring Equinox:

This week, our class has been learning about the spring equinox. We discovered that “equinox” means equal day and night, and that from this point on, we will begin to experience a little more daylight each day as we move closer to summer. We also explored the first signs of spring, including the blooming of crocuses and the return of robins. As part of our learning, we continued our conversations about how we can use the land to help us notice and understand the changing seasons, encouraging students to observe and connect with the natural world around them.

Writing:

This week in writing, students continued to build their procedural writing skills with a focus on using transitional words to clearly show each step. They wrote detailed instructions on how to make a peanut butter sandwich and how to make a pizza, working hard to organize their ideas in a logical order so their reader could easily follow along. Students learned that using transitional words such as first, next, then, and finally is important because it helps guide the reader through the steps in the correct order.

Students also worked on strengthening their paragraph writing. They practiced writing a strong opening sentence, adding three supporting ideas with clear details, and finishing with a closing sentence. After drafting, students took time to edit their work, checking for proper spacing, capital letters, punctuation, and making sure their writing made sense.

St. Patricks Day:

This week, we had some fun with St. Patrick’s Day by drawing our own leprechauns! After completing their drawings, students used their leprechauns as inspiration for writing. They practiced writing sentences that included adjectives to describe their character.

Spring Break March 20th - 30th

We hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break! It’s a great time to rest, recharge, and enjoy some special moments together. We look forward to hearing about all the fun when we return. School will resume on March 30th—see you then!
